RUMOURS ENDS AS OOU RELEASES NEW ACADEMIC CALENDAR

OOU VANGUARD

After days of intensified rumours and agitation, OOU VANGUARD can authoritatively confirm that the new proposed academic calendar for 2017/2018 as been released.

The new calendar indicates that resumption for the new session is slated for October 3rd 2017, while full lectures begin on October 9th 2017 for returning students.

Furthermore, resumption for fresher's as been slated for 9th of October and registration, while deadline for payment of fees and registration was fixed for November 24th 2017. Matriculation for fresher's as been slated for December 6th 2017 as freshers eagerly anticipate OOU admission list for the session.

Convocation ceremony for past graduates as been fixed for January 29th-31st 2018. While the harmattan examination will begin on January 15th 2018.

The 2017/2018 academic session is billed to end on June 30th 2018 and further protocols follows after. Meanwhile, students hope that the Federal Government meet up with ASSU conditions before the end of October to avoid another setback promulgated by the union strike actions.

ASUU CALLS OFF STRIKE


On the 18th of September 2017, 3:00pm the ASUU's delegate met with the FGN. A memorandum of understanding was reached and this effected the calling off of the ongoing strike as schools are told to resume work as from 25th of  September 2017 . The chairman of the association said
'We  pray for journey mercies for the students as they journey back to school. We are sorry for the strike, but our rights need to be fought for. This is the only way our voice can be echoed. We apologise for whatever inconvenience it has caused. All tertiary institution is to resume back on Monday 25th of sept. We are so grateful for the support of the schools under the oneness of this association'
